The first time that I slept in a bunk bed was during a weekend summer camp that I went on with my sister. It was her school field trip and I was lucky to go along (even though she may have hated that) and I also got sleep in the top bunk. But as I grew older I noticed that bunk beds were not such a crazy and strange idea for all children. And you can guess my amazement when I actually discovered that you can also have them in your own home.

Now, of course, that since I had a sister it seemed almost normal that we should have bunk beds. Not to mention that we also moved in a new apartment about the time when I was 7 and my sister was 12. So you can imagine that we did try to negotiate with out parents. At least as much as you can expect from children at that age. But our parents were very understanding and explained that there were several reasons for which this was a difficult task. There was, of course, the financial reason and the fact that bunk beds were not as common in the small town in which we lived. But there was also a problem of space that was resolved much easier with a simple double bed. So that was that.

But that didn’t end my dream. And here I am today, taking myself back to my childhood and bringing you along with me. And we are going to look at some amazing examples of bunk beds designs. This may be a good article in case you have a couple of kids around the house and want to make their dreams come true.

A dream product…

Now, if you are simply curious about the bunk beds, you can just take a quick peek at the products. But I also want to bring some arguments on why I have chosen these particular products. I wanted first of all to include all types of beds. I have selected a few that are basic bunk beds, with a simple design and focused on space saving. You will also find themed beds, if you want to add a little more charm to your child’s room. There are also a few beds with built in storage, such as shelves. And I have also found models that have a single bed on top and double bed on the bottom. In my opinion, this can be a great deal for either 3 children or if your kids ever have a friend. And maybe if you have guests and nowhere else to accommodate them.

When it comes to the design, you will also find a variety of looks. As I’ve mentioned above, there are several themed beds. Some of them even being made to resemble small houses, which I find really cute. But there are also some simple and basic ones if you just want practicality over design. In some future articles I will also want to go a bit more into bunk bed design and see what different concepts, ideas, and projects I run into. If interested, be on the lookout!
