Those of you who have been following my blog may be familiar with one of my favorite past articles – Let’s judge books by their cover!. But for those of you who are not familiar, I can give you the idea of it. In that particular article, I speak about how and why I encourage breaking the famous unwritten rule of “judging books by their cover”. And my reasons are stated pretty clear in that particular article, which I encourage you to check out.
But for those who may not be in the mood to go and read another article, I can save you the time. Because all of my reasons can be summed up to the fact that in today’s modern world we have many more choices. And this includes the field of book design. So why not pick your favorite cover for your favorite book if you can? So, to sustain my point of view, in today’s article I will be showing you one of my book choices. And proving that if you wait long enough and do your research, you can end up with the best version of a book that you can have.
Harry Potter illustrated books – by Jim Kay
So in order to prove my point, I have chosen the famous Harry Potter book series as my example. Because I grew up with these books and the movies. And I can admit without guilt that I did saw the movies before reading all the books. But I plan to rectify that. And now I have the perfect way to do it. Because I have seen over the years plenty of variations of these books. And I am sure you have, as well. I even got close to buying one of these versions at some point. But now I am so glad that I didn’t. And if you take a look at the pictures below, you will understand why.
I mean, just how gorgeous are these illustrations? From the level of detail to the sense of magic that surrounds them. I can admit that I fell in love with them at first sight. And I don’t regret for a moment waiting, or the fact that I still have to wait for the rest of the books to come out in order to have the full collection. These are my unquestionable favorite version of the Harry Potter illustrated books and it will remain so for years to come.
And I don’t just love them for my sake. I mean yes, I really appreciate the design, the level of talent that went into these and the work of the incredibly skilled illustrator known as Jim Kay. But I also think that my children will appreciate these books when they get a chance to read them. They will be enticed by the colorful and beautiful images and then be locked in the story. And I really hope they will love these books, or books in general, as I do.
