Terracotta Flower Vases

Terracotta Flower Vases

This may sound a bit weird, but growing up in Romania with old and traditional grandparents, I had a lot of contact with today’s focus material, terracotta. But not in the same shape or form. The old and traditional Romanian houses used to have a terracotta stove, which is the popular name that we used for it. Some of you may know these as masonry heaters or ceramic stove. Of course, these were not exclusively Romanian by any means, they were just very popular among our people. But I will discuss more about the terracotta stove in another article. For now, let’s stick to what you clicked on this article for.

I discovered that today’s material can actually be used in a very creative and beautiful way when handled properly. And I was delighted to discover some of the most gorgeous flower vases that I have seen come out of it. I have to warn you that some of these may not be to everyone’s taste. But that’s also part of their charm.

Terracotta, a beautiful and quirky thing

First of all, I have to say that to me, terracotta is a classic material. And I believe that I have selected the right pieces to back me up on this. Because you can notice that every one of the vases below have a certain old and classy charm to them. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that they wouldn’t fit in a modern home, if paired up and placed right. But they may feel more at home in a more classic and traditional style home. Or, at least, that’s what I believe.

Secondly, as I’ve mentioned above, these vases may not be for everyone. Because even though they are beautiful, they are certainly quirky as well. And this is due to the nature of the terracotta material. Because of it, the end product will almost always be imperfect. And this either intentionally or unintentionally. But this is what makes the pieces great. Because it gives them a certain personality, individuality, uniqueness. And in my book that’s what makes a great product. So please check these out and let me know if these are your type of vases. Or, if you prefer some other material, let me know which and I may write an article on it. I hope you enjoy!
